Where the look came from.

The design system was extracted from eighteen assets. These are them, with what each one settled. Three rules stated as absolute were falsified by widening this set, and the record says so.

  1. Cut paper jungle in sand, terracotta and forest green, forms lapping on a baseline.

    The sand ground. Every reference sits on it, which is why it is the page.

  2. Flat cut shapes with soft spherical shading and shallow cast shadows.

    Falsified the no-shadow rule. Broad soft shading inside a curved form is permitted; a gradient is not.

  3. Overlapping panels carrying a fine printed grid, cropped by the edge of each sheet.

    The orthogonal grid is printed on the stock, not laid over it, so it clips to the cut edge.

  4. A cut paper facade of arches, gables and fluted columns in clay and bone.

    Architecture, not animals. The system is a language, not a subject.

  5. A figure assembled from cut rectangles and discs against a field of loose paper strips.

    A human figure built from the same nine shapes, which is the test that the grammar generalises.
